Who’d have thought that Frimpong was better than Tav?

Congratulations to former Celtic player Jermie Frimpong who was a vital part of a superb Bayer Leverkusen side who won their first ever Bundesliga title at the weekend.

Not only is it good to see the likeable young man doing well, Celtic also benefited financially to the tune of £1 million due to a clause in his contract insuring a pay out if Leverkusen were crowned champions.

What’s more is that a further chunk of cash looks to be heading Celtic’s way as the young Dutch international looks likely to depart to bigger things this summer with clubs such as Real Madrid and Man City interested in his services. Celtic are of course due a 30 percent cut of any fee.

That’s fantastic business for the club who signed Jermie for a small fee back in 2019, and from the word go you could tell he was going to be a superb player.

Folk scoffed at the mere suggestion that young Jermie was heading to the top, and laughed at claims that he was better than the blue Cafu James Tavernier himself. When I say folk I’m of course meaning our deluded rival supporters across the city.

Old comments have surfaced on X including one from current The Rangers coach Alex Rae who scoffed at suggestions that Frimpong was better than Tavernier after only 10 games for the hoops.

But guess what? Jermie left the club after only two years with the same amount of major honours Tav currently has after nearly a decade at Ibrox.

Further more, Jeremie is now a full Dutch international and a Bundesliga winner with some of the biggest clubs in Europe after his services. Who’d have thought that young Jeremie would end up a better player than Tavernier? Well most of us with common sense and any football knowledge did. Oh my days.
