Turkish showing the way ahead by hiring foreign officials.

It was revealed this week that the Turkish football league has decided to bring in foreign referees in a bid to keep their game free from bias and corrupt officials.

They’re not alone in that matter as a few other leagues in world football do similar, Egypt for one, well they did in the past anyway.

Here in Scotland the idea has been floated by supporters on numerous occasions, but it’s never been discussed at a high level, and if we are honest, it’s never ever going to be mooted, never mind happen.

But it should be high on the agenda. Ignore the fact that our officials are useless, we have a high number who have leanings towards a certain club.

That club would be of course be The Rangers. That’s not a claim, that is a fact. Yes we do have a small number who have an affinity towards Celtic, it would be naive to suggest otherwise, but the bigger percentage of them are followers of the side who play out of Ibrox.

The proof can be seen in the Statistics of the big two when it comes to European football. Compare it to the Stats in domestic football and it tells you all you need to know.

The SFA would be doing themselves and their officials the world of good if they replaced them for certain games with officials who aren’t going to be swayed by their feelings.

Yes it would be seen as a big kick in the teeth for the homegrown officials, but it would save them the aggravation and stress of constantly being labelled cheats.

Foreign officials are not immune to criticism and will make mistakes, but at least you will know that they would be of the honest variety.

Just an ordinary Celtic supporter who likes to give my views on all the latest goings on at the club we all love. I also write for the Celtic star.
