On This day 2004 Henrik scored that spectacular header, then the reality hit home what we would be missing.

On this day 2004 Henrik Larsson, the king of kings scored a worldy of a diving header for Sweden in a group match against Bulgaria at Euro 2004.

Henrik rose superbly to bullet home a diving header from an equally superb Erik Edman cross to score a goal of sheer brilliance.

That goal was not only celebrated by the swedes, but by us Celtic supporters who worshipped the ground he walked on.

But while it was good to see him doing it on the big stage once again, it also hit home that the man who was the best player of his generation at the club would no longer be pulling on those famous green and white hoops.

Henrik would add to his tally as he scored just a minute later as the swedes thumped a Bulgarian side which included Stan Petrov 5-0 in the opening game of the group stage.

Just a month earlier we were in tears as he bid an emotional farewell at paradise, and now we were back to cutting onions once again as we realised that henrik wouldn’t be gracing the paradise turf as a Celtic player ever again.

Henrik even at 32 was still doing it on the big stage and was heading to Barcelona after the conclusion of the euros. The man was sheer class and it hurt deep at the thought of just how much we were going to miss him.

Just an ordinary Celtic supporter who likes to give my views on all the latest goings on at the club we all love. I also write for the Celtic star.
