Callum McGregor was heavily criticised for his role in the recent thumping by Germany, and deservedly so as he can play so much better, but I guess you could say that about a number of Scotland players that disappointing night in Munich.
However Callum seemed to be the only one who was receiving the most criticism, especially from a certain element of football supporters in our own country.
However last night he put in a performance we know he’s capable of, and although it wasn’t spectacular he done his job efficiently and effectively as he does so often for Celtic.
Alongside Billy Gilmour, Callum kept the midfield ticking over by keeping the tempo and picking key passes, even assisting the opening goal against a decent Swiss side.
That however wasn’t enough to keep the haters at bay. Those who have no interest in their nation and only want to single out certain players for criticism.
These individuals don’t want to see what Callum brings to the side in terms of ability and experience. They are blinded by their hatred and bitterness and can’t see that Callum is a superb player who only makes Scotland stronger. It’s quite sad really, but not unsurprising.
