Brendan one year on. He’s more than proved his worth and deserves to be fully backed on the transfer front next season.

One year ago today Brendan Rodgers replaced Ange Postecoglou in the Celtic park hot seat after being appointed Celtic manager for the second time.

Brendan was the first man in Dermot Desmonds thoughts after Ange departed for Spurs, and as he so often does when he wants to, Desmond got the man he wanted.

Brendan’s arrival wasn’t exactly greeted with the same enthusiasm that surrounded his appointment first time around, but the majority of the supporters were just glad to get a top class manager in the door to carry on the superb achievements of Ange Postecoglou.

We were all willing to give Brendan the chance to make amends for his ‘sin’ of leaving us in the lurch back in 2019 and gave him our unequivocal support.

That however was tested during a lull period towards the end of last year when Brendan’s credentials were questioned, and with good reason.

But despite having his hands tied in the transfer market, Brendan more than proved his worth by using his knowledge and experience to pull us through our ‘mini slump’ and lead us to a league and cup double, one of our most enjoyable in recent times.

We won all the big games domestically that we had to. We done it when it mattered and that was in a big way down to Brendan. The man is a class act who has more then proved his worth, and for that he deserves to be fully backed in the transfer market so he can take us further forward.
